Did you fall off the wagon? Here's to new beginnings!
Dec 21, 2022It is mid December, and I have fallen off the exercise wagon. I have so many good excuses. My shoulder hurts, my thumb hurts, I don't have time - and on and on. But I know that I feel so much better when I exercise so I want to get back into the habit. Maybe I should wait for the new year? My physical therapist is not impressed: "Your neck hurts? Are you exercising?"
New beginnings are exciting and full of potential. They represent a chance to start fresh and make positive changes in our lives. Many of us wait until the new year to implement new habits and set goals for ourselves. But why wait? Every day is a new beginning, and there's no reason to wait until the new year to start working towards the things we want.
Taking stock of what we've achieved this year is an important first step in setting goals for the next year. Reflecting on our accomplishments can help us see what we're capable of, and give us a sense of direction as we move forward. It's also a good idea to consider any areas of our lives that may need improvement. Maybe we want to be more organized, or spend more time with our loved ones. Whatever it is, taking the time to assess our current situation can help us set meaningful and achievable goals for the future.
One of the biggest obstacles to achieving our goals is often ourselves. We may be held back by negative beliefs, fear, self-doubt, or a lack of motivation. Often times, we're not even aware of these blocks because they live in our subconscious minds. The beliefs and programs in your subconscious mind controls about 95% of your everyday behavior. This is why it is vital to get your beliefs and programs into alignment with your goals. By releasing negative beliefs and installing positive beliefs, you change the blueprint for your life, your point of attraction.
It's important to remind ourselves that it's never too late (or too early) to make positive changes in our lives. Whether we're starting a new job, moving to a new city, or simply trying to break a bad habit, there's always an opportunity to create a new beginning.
One way to stay motivated and on track is to break our goals down into smaller, more manageable tasks. This can help us feel a sense of accomplishment along the way, and make it easier to stay focused on the bigger picture. It's also helpful to enlist the support of friends and loved ones. Sharing our goals with others can provide accountability and encouragement, and can help us stay motivated when things get tough.
So, I decide it is time to get back on track. To avoid feeling sore and useless the day after my first exercise, I pick a gentle workout. It's a pilates class from "Beachbody on demand". And I do it! I give myself permission to be gentle and go easy. And I do it! In the next five days, I complete three more sessions. It feels so good! And it's not even Christmas yet.
Ultimately, the key to achieving our goals is to stay positive and focused. Every day is a new beginning, and every day is an opportunity to make progress towards the things we want in life. So don't wait for the new year to start working towards your goals. Take control of your life today, and start making the positive changes you want to see in your future. This way you can hit the ground running come January first. Let's start today and make every day a new beginning!
