Take a breath.
No, really. Breathe in. Deep. Feel the air move into your body, filling your belly, expanding your ribs, opening space inside you. Hold it for a moment. Let the body settle. Allowing the body to relax but the breath to be held. Then, as you let it go, out through your mouth. Allow it to transform into a sound. A sigh. A hum. An exhale with a sound.
That’s the beginning.
This is where we start.
The voice isn’t just sounds. It’s not just words and it's not just communication. It is vibrations. It’s energy, it’s resonance, it’s who we are. It carries our history, our habits, our emotions and it carries our truth. And for so many of us, that truth has been squeezed, silenced, shaped by expectations, by the fear of being too loud, too much, too emotional, too raw. By the fear of being different and not fitting in.
But here’s the thing: the voice is longing to be free.
The Breath is Everything
We live in a world where we hold our breath all the time. In tiny moments of stress. In conversations where we don’t feel safe. Before we say something vulnerable. Before we enter a room. Before we tell the truth. When we think.
And what happens when we hold the breath?
We hold the energy. We hold our emotions. We hold ourselves in, make ourselves small, controlled. But when you really let your breath move you, when you let it touch your whole body, when you allow it to expand and release - with sound - and suddenly — something shifts.
So, start here. Right now. Notice your breath. Notice where it stops. Notice what it feels like to let it move your energy.
Deep breath - with a sigh.
The breath is your first act of liberation.
Feeling Before Words
Most of us are trained to use our voices in a way that disconnects us from our feelings. We think before we speak, we calculate, we suppress, we polish, we filter. But what if your voice didn’t have to come from the mind?
What if your voice could come straight from your body? From the pulse of what you’re feeling right now?
Close your eyes for a moment. Ask yourself: How do I feel?
The answer is already there. Not in words. Not in thoughts. Just sensation. Is there a tightness? A warmth? A trembling? A weight in the chest? A buzzing? Just notice.
Now: let that feeling move into a sound. Take a deep breath and expand the sensations and then allow that feeling to express itself in a hum, a sigh or a deep moan from the belly. Not to perform. Not to impress. Just to express.
This is the voice before filtered language. Before trying to explain what you are sensing. It is a way to connect to what it is that you are sensing. It is a gateway for you to understand yourself. It is the raw, primal, alive voice that carries the truth of the moment.
Finding the True Voice
And here’s something wild: the voice you’ve been using all your life? That’s not fully your voice.
It’s an echo. A collection of borrowed ways to use your instrument. Your mother’s tone. Your father’s phrasing. The authority figures you learned to appease. The way you were taught to soften or sharpen or shrink or exaggerate to be understood, to be liked, to be safe.
But underneath all that, there is something else.
A deeper resonance. A voice that isn’t shaped by fear or approval or habit. A voice that is fully yours.
And you find it by listening. By vibrating. By allowing the breath, the sound, the body to open.
Breaking the Habits That Keep Us Small
There’s a moment in this journey when you start to notice all the ways you hold your voice back.
You hear it when you speak to your boss, and your voice is suddenly lighter, higher, like you’re making yourself smaller. You hear it when you talk to your family, and you slip into an old rhythm that isn’t fully yours. You catch yourself holding back a sound, biting back a word, controlling your breath.
And when you notice it, you have a choice.
It could be the most important choice of your life.
Do I keep following this old pattern?
Or do I let my real voice come through?
This isn’t just about sounding different. This is about being different. About stepping into who you actually are — in sound, in speech, in presence, in energy.
Creation: Speaking Yourself Into Existence
Here’s the big secret no one tells you:
Your voice doesn’t just reflect you — it creates you.
Read that again. You create yourself through your voice.
Every time you speak, you are shaping the way you experience yourself. The way others experience you. The way your energy moves in your system.
If you speak in a way that is apologetic, hesitant, careful — you create an energy pattern of that characteristic. If you speak in a way that is connected, embodied, resonant — you anchor that version of yourself into reality.
So, what if you could create yourself anew every time you spoke?
What if you could choose, with each breath and sound, who you are becoming?
This is where the voice work transforms into something bigger than just making sounds. This is where it becomes a tool for freedom, for truth, for stepping into your power.
The Invitation
I don’t want to just tell you about this. I want you to experience it.
So right now, wherever you are, take another breath.
Fill your belly. Expand your ribs. Let sound come. A sigh. A hum. An exhale with a sound.
And notice:
What does it feel like to take up space with your voice?
Take another deep breath. And give your voice to the body. And feel how that feels.
What happens in your body when you allow it to sound fully?
Breath by breath, sound after sound
This is the journey.
And you’re already on it.
